Adventures with NMM

Better lighting set up, better exposure times means its time to show off my forays into NMM painting!
all metal on this character is painted in mattes, and the cloak was painted using the three pot technique. And ive just noticed the eyes that were painted by a crazy child apparently. ill be re-painting those asap. CRAZY EYES!

Whole Empire army!

So here it is!
Suddenly my painting rush seems very insignificant. So much to do!
The next squad will be the nuln handgunners! Painted with the Altdorf colours of course.

Eleanor finished!

Well I wasn't expecting it to happen so fast. Totally zoned out and finished my HQ! There is probably room for improvement on this but its beyond my abilities at the moment. So without further ado, here she is! I've even made an effort with the pictures, you lucky people!

Eleanor pt 4

Not just a big update but a new camera! the depth of field on these pictures is horrible and I'm sorry, but as soon as I've worked out how to change the settings on it ill put some more pictures up. this isn't finished yet. still the rest of the dragon, couple of details on the throne, wings and tree and base to do... hmm maybe this isn't much of an update after all. but Eleanor is finished! down to the eye makeup and lipstick. definitely my most detailed work to date.

Eleanor pt 3

Still WIP-ping on this, but im loving the process. Its stopped looking so monochrome since ive started putting things together. also approaching the shading on different materials gives them a nice change. the next big challenge is going to be a big leap. blending the scales on the dragon from yellow to orange to red to purple to blue to turquoise to white *wheeze*. and the only way i can think of doing this seamlessly is by giving it a base of red to blue then sticking it together then greenstuff to cover up them seams then fiddly painting for ages. As you can see below

So here is where ive got to with the rest. the banner fits perfectly with the arm and throne! bit of shaving and crafty scraps of cloth and there you have it! ive gone with a cream cloak for Eleanor to give me a blank canvas for freehand if im feeling brave and energetic at the end of the project. and if not. it looks nice :)

And here is a mock up of the whole thing together:

Thanks for reading! and ill check in again tomorrow, would definitely recommend this model. its sat in my bits box for months and its been a treat.

Eleanor pt 2

It continues! Just a few wip shots of the dragon. I've concocted a little fluff for this too. Karl Franz has an unnamed daughter! She steals a young carmine dragon, thinking its docility towards her as a sign for her readiness for war she absconds with it. The armies of Altdorf rally to her banner as she looks to prove herself the rightful heir.

Eleanor, princess of Altdorf

Right. So phase 2 of my Altdorf army is its commander. I was planning a nuln army the whole time until I painted those Demigryphs. Love painting red and blue and gold. Looks so regal. So. Converting the ‘Graveyard Rose’ Elspeth von Draken on her carmine dragon is my next level. Going to really give 100% on the freehand of this. It's a beast but I need something to throw myself at. I've snipped off her lovely scythe and replaced it with a scary blank canvas! At least it fits beautifully. Also going to add some feathers and shields to her mount to make it feel a little more Altdorf. Ill be good with updates of this. If only for the proof I actually did it!!

As for rules I'm hoping who ever comes up against it will be happy for me to use the old Elspeth von Draken ones!

Finished Demigryph phalanx!

Needed to blast through these as quickly as possible before I got sloppy. So happy with these. Will get some proper pics soon.
